266 bird species are recorded in the site<br />

in the observati<strong>on</strong>s so far.<br />

In the observati<strong>on</strong>s so far 22 bird<br />

species breed in the lake occasi<strong>on</strong>ally,<br />

66 species breed in the lake every year<br />

and 178 species use the lake during<br />

migrati<strong>on</strong>. The site is an important<br />

breeding site <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> threatened species as<br />

Dalmatian pelican (Pelecanus crispus),<br />

pygmy cormorant (Phalacrocorax<br />

pygmeus). Great cormorant<br />

(Phalacrocorax carbo), grey her<strong>on</strong><br />

(Ardea cinerea), glossy ibis (Plegadis<br />

falcinellus), Eurasian spo<strong>on</strong>bill (Platalea<br />

leucorodia) are other bir species<br />

breeding in the site.<br />

species regularly in the<br />

Thousands <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> coastal birds are recorded<br />

to stage in the site during spring. Due<br />

to being located <strong>on</strong> African, Asian and<br />

wildlife area for species. Comm<strong>on</strong> carp<br />

(Cyprinus carpio), wels catfish (Silurus<br />

glanis), northern pike (Esox lucius) and<br />

European chub (Leuciscus cephalus) are<br />

the leading <strong>on</strong>es <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> these species.<br />

MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE<br />

The 64-<br />

July 27, 1959 and the 25.000-hectare covering Lake Manyas and its immediates was<br />

designated as wildlife c<strong>on</strong>servati<strong>on</strong> site. Ministry <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> Envir<strong>on</strong>ment and Forestry Directorate<br />

Envir<strong>on</strong>ment and Forestry Nature C<strong>on</strong>servati<strong>on</strong> and Nati<strong>on</strong>al Parks Chief Engineering<br />

Office are the competent authorities resp<strong>on</strong>sible for the management <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the park. A total<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> five pers<strong>on</strong>nel including two administrative, two guards and <strong>on</strong>e research associate<br />

work in the site.<br />
