The <strong>Kinabalu</strong> <strong>Challenge</strong><br />
Taking place in Malaysian Borneo, the <strong>Kinabalu</strong> <strong>Challenge</strong> offers a tough and exhilarating<br />
adventure for up to 15 teams of four individuals to test themselves against each other, and<br />
the elements, over a seven day period. Teams will be trekking, mountain biking and running<br />
through rainforests, riding rapids on team-built rafts, kayaking in the South China Sea and<br />
finish by ascending 4095 (13,435 ft) metres above sea level to the summit of Mount<br />
<strong>Kinabalu</strong>. The <strong>Challenge</strong> is part of a portfolio of fundraising, team-building and volunteering<br />
activities that <strong>Raleigh</strong> offers internationally and in the UK.<br />

Day Two<br />
Fly from London Heathrow<br />
Arrive Borneo. Jungle skills, kayak<br />
induction, 200m swim test and<br />
meet the team session.<br />
Day Three Jungle training, survival and<br />
communication skills, safety and<br />
cultural briefings. Teams will have<br />
a chance in the evening to<br />
prepare their strategy and<br />
equipment for the days ahead.<br />

The race begins! 4km run.<br />
Helicopter flight into jungle. Short<br />
trek and then the chance to test<br />
new skills by building an overnight<br />
camp. Camp and meals will be<br />
scored!<br />
Trek out of camp. 9km bike/run.<br />
White water rafting down the Kiulu<br />
river and back to jungle camp.<br />
Rafting down the Kiulu in team<br />
built rafts. 9km bike/run and kayak<br />
relay race. Teams will be taken to<br />
<strong>Kinabalu</strong> base camp in the<br />
evening.<br />
Teams ascend to the Laban Rata<br />
camp (3,330m).<br />
A 2am start for the final ascent<br />
and sunrise at the summit. After<br />
descending Mount <strong>Kinabalu</strong>, the<br />
challenge ends with a beachside<br />
awards ceremony and party at a<br />
5-star hotel.<br />
Return flight to the UK, or a few<br />
extra days of rest and relaxation<br />
for those who extend their stay.
