Camp Moraga is becoming even more popular with the great weather days, if you have not tried breakfast or lunch yet please do. You can also just come in for a cool beverage and enjoy the plasma TVs; if you enjoy the national pastime, Camp Moraga does get all the baseball games in both the American and National leagues. Swim season is well underway with clinics starting and over 215 signed up for the swim team. Our junior golf and junior tennis camps are filling up quickly as well. Golf course is in great shape and we are looking forward to all our upcoming invitational tournaments. Clubhouse project is very close to schedule with second floor framing underway as I write this article. You can see a live snap shot of the clubhouse under construction on our web page at moragacc.com; just click on Live Construction View tab, the snap shot will refresh each time you refresh the page. Stay tuned for the grand opening of our turn building at the range. President’s Message Your Board of Directors and the staff at Moraga Country Club serve at the pleasure of the membership. With over 1,000 members, we have a constituency that has many differing opinions on virtually all subjects. When our members are unhappy about something, we usually hear about it. If there is something that needs fixing and it is in our power to resolve the problem, we usually take care of it, budget permitting. However, one of the most disturbing situations that occurs is when a small group of members has an issue and it gets represented that “the membership has an issue with [insert your issue]”. While the Board and staff try to consider all issues that come before them, sometimes it is difficult to put the situation into perspective. We are often faced with the situation that a handful of members will put an issue before us and we are faced with deciding if it something that the other 1,000 or so members agree with! Bottom line—we would really appreciate hearing from you. While we will always try to remedy situations that need attention, we would also like to know if you think we are doing things right. Please let us know how you feel—positive or negative. BBBB The weather is warming up and we are seeing increased usage of the golf course and the tennis courts. It appears that our Aquatics Center on Larch Avenue has yet to be “discovered”. With a large heated pool, spa, and chaise lounges a-plenty, it is a great place to spend a couple of hours relaxing in a bucolic environment. Check it out. BBBB Thanks for listening. Clubhouse Update I mentioned to Don Maddison recently that I am running out of topics to cover in my monthly Clubhouse Update column. Perhaps the reason for this is a lack of imagination on my part but I think (hope) it is more that many of the pressing questions have been asked and answered and now we just wait, if somewhat anxiously, for the completion and ribbon cutting. It is also true that the progress speaks for itself. I hope you all visit the construction site regularly. I certainly do, every day I am in town, in fact. There has been recent significant progress in the framing so the shape and size of the facility is really starting to take form. Some have asked about the impact of the many and severe winter storms on our construction progress. The good news is, there was a dry spell in January at the very time we needed it which enabled us to get the concrete slab work done with little difficulty. Slab and foundation work are some of the most weather sensitive aspects of any construction project. In addition, we built several rain days into the construction schedule and although we have used many of them we are still on track for a late 2011 or early 2012 completion. Finally, as the weather turns into mild spring days I remind you to take advantage of the fine fare and outdoor dining available at Camp Moraga. Those who have been there can attest to a great experience. Those who have not are certainly missing out and should not delay to take advantage of this outstanding amenity. Some feared the temporary facility would be an inconvenience. It has been anything but. That is it for this month. As always, please feel free to contact me or any other member of the Committee if you have any questions.
