Architecture <strong>Canada</strong> | <strong>RAIC</strong><br />
The <strong>RAIC</strong> Foundation<br />
The <strong>RAIC</strong> Foundation, established in 1964, is supported entirely by bequests and<br />
voluntary donations and includes endowments that provide financial assistance for<br />
worthwhile projects that advance the understanding and awareness <strong>of</strong> architecture, both<br />
for the public and for the pr<strong>of</strong>ession. In <strong>2012</strong> donations totalling $22,305 were received<br />
for the General Fund. Just over $500,000 in donations were received over 2011-12 in<br />
support <strong>of</strong> <strong>Canada</strong>’s entry at the Venice Biennale in Architecture.<br />
Mission<br />
The <strong>RAIC</strong> Foundation is committed to advancing excellence and knowledge in<br />
Canadian architecture by supporting programs that ensure a vibrant place for<br />
architecture in Canadian society, the advancement <strong>of</strong> excellence in architecture, and<br />
a strong architectural pr<strong>of</strong>ession throughout <strong>Canada</strong>.<br />
Objectives<br />
• To support the next generation <strong>of</strong> Canadian architects<br />
• To educate the public about how architecture improves lives and transforms<br />
communities<br />
• To raise the pr<strong>of</strong>ile <strong>of</strong> Canadian architecture at home and internationally<br />
The Foundation Trustees oversee the administration <strong>of</strong>, and act as the jury for, the <strong>RAIC</strong><br />
Foundation Awards established by bequests from members <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Institute</strong>, in addition to<br />
the <strong>RAIC</strong> Foundation Award. The Trustees are:<br />
