Architecture Canada | RAIC External Relations In 2012, RAIC again held exchanges with its colleagues south of the border from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) during the annual AIA Convention held in Washington. RAIC’s President, David Craddock, FRAIC, attended the Australian Institute conference in Brisbane, and initiated discussions towards a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to encourage cooperation, resource exchanges and information exchange concerning best practices between the two Institutes. The MOU will be similar to one signed with the AIA in 2010, and is expected to be signed in 2013. In 2012, RAIC also renewed communications with the Royal Institute of British Architecture (RIBA), which proved timely as RIBA had recently completed a strategic review exercise similar to one the RAIC is currently engaged in. RAIC maintained its engagement as a member of the UIA – the international body bringing together more than 150 Institutes and associations from around the world – with Randy Dhar, PP/FRAIC, serving as one of three UIA Council members from Region III (Americas). The RAIC also continued as a member of the Pan-American Federation of Architects. Derek Lawrence Official launching of the Broadly Experienced Foreign Architect project during IIDEX – Sheena Sharp, FRAIC; André Bourassa, MIRAC; Hon. These discussions also engaged the Canadian Architectural Certification Board (CACB) and the Canadian Council of University Schools of Architecture (CCUSA).
