Rory Picklyk<br />
Rory was born in Saskatoon, graduating with a Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Arts from the<br />
University <strong>of</strong> Saskatchewan in 1981 and completed his architectural education at<br />
the Technical University <strong>of</strong> Nova Scotia in 1985. After graduation he returned<br />
to Saskatchewan, practising as a member <strong>of</strong> IKOY in Regina, had a brief stay<br />
in Oregon, and moved back to Saskatoon in the early 2000’s where he is now<br />
Regional Vice President at Stantec.<br />
Rory’s practice has been very diverse ranging from University and Institutional<br />
Buildings, major commercial and <strong>of</strong>fice development, healthcare and science and<br />
technology sector development and community projects across the province. Rory<br />
was the lead designer for the award winning T-Rex Discovery Centre in East End<br />
Saskatchewan, and has been recognized numerous times through the Saskatchewan<br />
Premiers Design Awards program.<br />
Rory is active in the community and is currently the Vice Chair <strong>of</strong> the Board <strong>of</strong><br />
the Saskatchewan Roughrider Football Club and a member <strong>of</strong> the CFL Board <strong>of</strong><br />
Governors. He sits on the Meewasin Valley Authority Design review panel and<br />
was a founding Board Member <strong>of</strong> Roadmap Saskatoon, an organization promoting<br />
sustainable development in Saskatoon.<br />
Rory has been on SAA Council serving as President in 2001 and was the SAA<br />
representative to the CCAC and was a RAIC Syllabus Program Mentor for many<br />
years. Rory was chair <strong>of</strong> the fundraising Committee for the 2010 joint RAIC and<br />
SAA Festival in Saskatoon and made a significant contribution to the success<br />
<strong>of</strong> that event. Currently he is the SAA Representative and advocate for the<br />
establishment <strong>of</strong> a school <strong>of</strong> Architecture at the University <strong>of</strong> Saskatchewan.<br />
