Professional Development Once again in 2007, the RAIC provided several courses and workshops at the Festival of Architecture in Toronto. Beyond Green With the support from Natural Resources Canada, the RAIC offered SDCB 305 – Beyond Green: Adaptive, Restorative and Regenerative Design, which was delivered again in four cities in 2007. This course explores Integrated Project Delivery services and how to adopt BIM in architectural practice. The RAIC would like to thank Allan Partridge, MRAIC, Principal, HIP Architects, Mitchell Clark, Mechanical Engineer, Stantec Consulting and Caesar Ruest, Applications Specialist, Autodesk for developing and delivering the course across Canada. Maximizing Productivity and Encouraging Innovation Through Design The RAIC partnered with the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto to provide a half-day workshop featuring three renowned speakers – Eugene Kohn, FAIA, Steve McConnell, FAIA and Roger Martin, Dean of the Rotman School of Management. The focus was on how space, design and integrative thinking can foster productivity and innovation within organizations. The workshop was sold out. Veronafiere In 2007 the RAIC was able to send five members to the week long course on stone and marble in Verona, Italy – one additional architect than previous years. The course included tours of quarries and factories, as well as classroom sessions held with Architects from all over the world. The RAIC continues to provide practice support services to its members – this is achieved through the development and dissemination of contract documents and other practice tools and the development and delivery of professional development courses related to architectural practice. Practice Support Committee The Practice Support Committee continued to provide direction on revisions to various standard contract documents and reviewed the Request for Proposals to select a team to develop and deliver the successful course on Building Information Modeling.
