Properties<br />

<strong>ABIL</strong> ® <strong>Quat</strong> <strong>3272</strong> and <strong>ABIL</strong> ® <strong>Quat</strong> <strong>3474</strong> are<br />

used in conditioning shampoos and hair rinses.<br />

These products are substantive to the hair<br />

keratin. They improve combability of wet and<br />

dry hair, electrostatic charge is reduced and the<br />

hair becomes silky, shiny and manageable.<br />

<strong>ABIL</strong> ® <strong>Quat</strong> <strong>3272</strong> and <strong>ABIL</strong> ® <strong>Quat</strong> <strong>3474</strong><br />

which are of high molecular weight are well<br />

compatible with anionic surfactants.<br />

Application<br />

<strong>ABIL</strong> ® <strong>Quat</strong> <strong>3272</strong> is preferred for use in<br />

shampoos, shower and bath preparations and<br />

liquid soaps.<br />

In skin cleansing preparations the interaction of<br />

<strong>ABIL</strong> ® <strong>Quat</strong> <strong>3272</strong> with skin proteins provides a<br />

refatting effect that imparts a smooth and<br />

supple feel to cleansed skin.<br />

In hair care formulations the long dimethicone<br />

chain of <strong>ABIL</strong> ® <strong>Quat</strong> <strong>3474</strong> provides gloss and<br />

pleasant, non greasy after feel to hair.<br />

Preparation<br />

of shampoos:<br />

<strong>ABIL</strong> ® <strong>Quat</strong> <strong>3272</strong> or <strong>ABIL</strong> ® <strong>Quat</strong> <strong>3474</strong> is mixed<br />

with anionic surfactants, water insoluble<br />

components and solubilizers.<br />

The mixture is diluted with water. Then<br />

TEGO ® Betain, watersoluble ingredients,<br />

thickeners and TEGO ® Pearl are added.<br />

Recommended usage concentration<br />

<strong>ABIL</strong> ® <strong>Quat</strong> <strong>3272</strong>:<br />

0.2 - 2.0 % in shampoos and skin cleansing<br />

preparations<br />

0.5 - 4.0 % in hair rinses<br />

<strong>ABIL</strong> ® <strong>Quat</strong> <strong>3474</strong>:<br />

0.1 - 1.0 % in shampoos and skin cleansing<br />

preparations<br />
