QUARTER HORSE DAY at HOOSIER PARK<br />
After the races were over and the last horse was cooled out, horsemen and QH racing fans enjoyed a complimentary dinner sponsored by<br />
the Quarter Horse Racing Association of Indiana. People enjoyed a great meal, visiting with friends, and participating in a fund raiser,<br />
which consisted of the a "Stick Horse Auction", which made it possible for the <strong>QHRAI</strong> to present a $6,000 check to Annie Steele to help<br />
offset some of her expenses while she is being treated for cancer. <strong>QHRAI</strong> would like to thank EVERYONE who participated to make this event<br />
a great success.<br />
The crowd watched and made bids on<br />
horses that were being auctioned off!!<br />
Horsemen enjoyed a great meal prepared by the Hoosier Park<br />
food services group.<br />
The new owners of the stick horses waited for their horses name to be drawn in a "mock<br />
race draw". The hardest part of the process was for owners to name the rider on thier horse<br />
who they thought would win in the stick races that were to be run on October 27th!! The<br />
winning owner recieves a Steak House Dinner for 4, and the winning rider recieves a $100<br />
bill (we all know jockeys don't eat in steak houses) !!<br />
Annie Steele looks on as the stick horses were being previewed and auctioned off. Annie<br />
has been a very close part of our Quarter Horse family for many years. She was the out<br />
rider at Indiana Downs for several years, and was on the track each day for early morning<br />
training. We look forward to seeing her back in the saddle at the track real soon!!
