SANYS U: Disability Supports Transformation<br />

Evan Yankey, Regional Coordinator, Self Advocacy Association of New York State<br />

This is an exploratory course to examine Self-Advocacy and its role in the<br />

transformation of supports and services for people with disabilities.<br />

Participants will cover concepts on disability history, person-centered<br />

planning, and direct advocacy skills. Attain up-to-date information on<br />

system transformation and encourage creative thinking about care and<br />

the provision of supports and services. This course is open to all.<br />

PSX-166 4 sessions (8 hours) / $35 plus $15 registration fee<br />

DISABILITIES AWARENESS WORKSHOP<br />

Saturday September 21st and October 19th @ 10am-4pm<br />

Special Pricing for Each Day: $85 including buffet noshing<br />

Individual Sessions available (see below pricing) per Workshop<br />

plus $15 one-time only registration fee<br />

You may have a disability, you may be a friend of someone who is disabled, work in the<br />

developmental disabilities field, or you may be a parent of a (adult) child who has a disability.<br />

These sessions will start the conversation and increase awareness of this important<br />

community subject in an open discussion environment with the goal of creating<br />

a supportive, networking venue to share experiences. All are welcome to participate.<br />

Workshop #1: Saturday September 21st @ 10am-4pm<br />

PSX-169 S1 3 sessions (5.25 hours) / $85 plus $15 registration fee<br />

Dealing with the Challenges of a Special Needs Child: For Parents, Siblings, Caregivers<br />

Learn about the concerns of your loved one being diagnosed with a developmental<br />

delay, a recognized developmental disability. Topics include: what is a disability, defining<br />

autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and learning about the differences between<br />

intellectual, physical and learning disabilities. (Ingrid Amorini & Rosalba C. Perez)<br />

How Conscious Connected Breathwork can Help You!<br />

Connecting your inhalations with your exhalations allows you to free yourself from selfimposed<br />

limitations. Whether you are in a wheelchair, or your office chair, Breathwork<br />

allows you to reach out and touch your true Self. Learn how to create the life you and<br />
