Welcome to the fall <strong>2013</strong> semester of <strong>Queensborough</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong>’s<br />
Office of Continuing Education and Workforce Development<br />
Looking to gear up for a new career while staying in shape? Become a nationally certified<br />
Personal Trainer – currently the 4th hottest job in the U.S. Through our W.I.T.S program<br />
you will learn the science and physiology of training and experience both 16 hours of<br />
lecture and 16 hours of practical training. After passing the National Certification exams<br />
in both, you will be eligible for a 30 hour internship in a local fitness center and be on<br />
your way to establishing your own business or a career in a national fitness center.<br />
Two new courses in our preparatory ABC Seminar Series for Non-Native Speakers of<br />
English will be Business Law and Legal English & American Legal Culture. Foreign<br />
Accent Reduction will return and we will have a Wintersession high school equivalency<br />
program, GED, at our Flushing site.<br />
New adult personal enrichment classes include three MAC Workshops: Welcome to the<br />
MAC, Microsoft Word for the MAC, and The i’s Have It – iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch. Adding<br />
to our array of computer based programs, are Microsoft Expression Web for Windows<br />
and Photoshop Advanced: Picture Perfect. We will also be offering an extension of our<br />
Disabilities Management Workshops covering six topics of interest for those who are<br />
either disabled, caretakers of disabled children or adults, or who are working in the<br />
development disabilities field. Our History Series topics will be on Stalin, The Kennedy<br />
Assassination: The End of Innocence, and Robert Moses: The Man Who Transformed New<br />
York. We will be reintroducing two art programs: Drawing Introduction and 100 Years :<br />
Celebrating the Armory Show of 1913 – American Artists, Collectors and Critics.<br />
Amid myriad Saturday academic and personal enrichment courses, Kids and Teens <strong>College</strong><br />
students have a choice of three new programs: Physics - A Force To Be Reckoned With,<br />
App Inventor for Mobile Phones, and Hand Painting on Silk.<br />
We trust you had a great summer and are looking forward to expanding your horizons by<br />
returning to the QCC campus for enriching experiences. See you in the fall.<br />
