T R I P L E - B L E N D O D O R C O N T R O L M E D I A removes the widest variety of odors
and gases from municipal and wastewater applications. Triple-Blend Odor Control
Media contains a 50:25:25 blend, respectively of Odorcarb Ultra,
Odoroxidant SP and Odorkol engineered dry-chemical media. This unique
combination of Purafil media formulations removes common gases found in
municipal applications such as hydrogen sulfide, nitrogen dioxide, nitric oxide, sulfur
dioxide, organic acids, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) as well as lower molecular
weight aldehydes and hydrocarbons.

Triple-Blend Odor Control Media shall consist of
a mix of Odoroxidant SP media, Odorkol
activated carbon media and Odorcarb Ultra
media.
Odoroxidant SP Media shall consist of
manufactured, generally spherical, porous
pellets. Pellets shall be formed from a
combination of activated alumina and other
binders, suitably impregnated with sodium
permanganate to provide optimum adsorption,
absorption and oxidation of a wide variety of
gaseous contaminants. The sodium
permanganate shall be applied during pellet
formation, such that the impregnant is uniformly
distributed throughout the pellet volume and is
totally available for reaction.
The Odorkol Media shall be an activated carbon
for the control of hydrocarbons with a high
surface area available for adsorption.
The Odorcarb Ultra Media, an activated aluminabased
media, is formed from a combination of of
powdered activated carbon, alumina, binders
and reactive components for the removal of
hydrogen sulfide. This media contains Media Life
Indicator Pellets which offer a visual indication of
remaining media life, by changing from blue to
white when the media is spent.

The Purafil chemisorptive process shall remove
contaminant gases by means of adsorption,
absorption, and chemical reaction. Gases shall
be trapped within the pellet where oxidation
changes the gases into harmless solids,
eliminating the possibility of desorption.

Triple-Blend Odor Control Media shall perform
effectively under the following conditions and
guidelines:
• TEMPERATURE: -4° F to 125° F
(-20° C to 51° C)
• HUMIDITY: 10 - 95% RH
• AIRFLOW: Triple-Blend Odor Control Media
shall be effective in municipal applications with
airflows ranging from less than 25CFM (42.5
m 3 /hr) to over 100,000 CFM (169,920 m 3 /hr)
and with velocities from 60 FPM to 500 FPM
(0.30 to 2.54 m/s).
• MEDIA PERFORMANCE: Triple-Blend Odor
Control Media shall be designed for 95%
minimum removal efficiency in Purafil systems.
• MEDIA LIFE: Regular media samples of
Triple-Blend Odor Control Media shall be taken
for projecting remaining media life, providing
scheduled maintenance, and ensuring
performance.
