ThyssenKrupp is a diversified industrial group. For us, innovations <strong>and</strong> technical progress are key factors in<br />

managing global growth <strong>and</strong> the use of finite resources in a sustainable way. With our engineering expertise<br />

in the areas “Material”, “Mechanical” <strong>and</strong> “Plant” we enable our customers to compete successfully in the<br />

global market place. We offer them a broad range of capabilities allowing them to operate innovatively <strong>and</strong><br />

utilize resources efficiently. Our capabilities extend from high-quality steels to technological goods such as<br />

elevators, escalators <strong>and</strong> complete industrial complexes, to advanced naval technology.<br />

Organizational <strong>and</strong> management structure<br />

The Group’s operations are organized in eight business areas each having several operating units The<br />

business areas are bracketed together in two divisions – Materials <strong>and</strong> Technologies – which describe the<br />

Group’s strategic focus. The business areas <strong>and</strong> their Group companies operate independently on the<br />

market.<br />

The strategic management of the Group is the responsibility of corporate headquarters at ThyssenKrupp AG.<br />

ThyssenKrupp AG was founded in 1999 as a stock corporation under German law <strong>and</strong> has dual domiciles in<br />

Duisburg <strong>and</strong> Essen. The headquarters are located in Essen in the ThyssenKrupp Quarter. The Executive<br />

Board of ThyssenKrupp AG sets the strategy for the Group’s development, directs the business areas <strong>and</strong> is<br />

responsible for central corporate functions. In addition to their own directorates, members of the Executive<br />

Board are responsible for specific world regions. Their duties also include executive development <strong>and</strong> talent<br />

management.<br />

Business processes<br />

The business processes of the corporate centers (CCs) at ThyssenKrupp AG, which cooperate closely with<br />

each other <strong>and</strong> with all areas of the Group, range from accounting to technology. These corporate<br />

departments support the Executive Board with the administration <strong>and</strong> control of the companies <strong>and</strong><br />

investments which together form the Group. The following CCs exist: Corporate Development incl. Strategy &<br />

Regions; Corporate Technology, Innovation & Quality; Executives <strong>Management</strong>; Corporate Information<br />

Technology; Internal Auditing; Legal & Compliance; Corporate Communications; Corporate Programs;<br />

Corporate Sustainability & Environment incl. Energy; Corporate Affairs; Controlling & Risk; Accounting &<br />

<strong>Financial</strong> <strong>Report</strong>ing; Corporate Finance; Taxes & Customs; Investor Relations; Materials <strong>Management</strong>;<br />

Mergers & Acquisitions; Human Resources.<br />
