Our estimates suggest that by releas<strong>in</strong>g the potential for energy efficiency <strong>renovation</strong>,<br />

public f<strong>in</strong>ances <strong>in</strong> <strong>Europe</strong> can be improved by €30 – 40 billion annually from 2020, cf.<br />

Figure 15. €19 and €27 billion <strong>of</strong> these respectively are <strong>benefits</strong> from improved health,<br />

where our estimates are subject to considerable uncerta<strong>in</strong>ty and should be <strong>in</strong>terpreted<br />

accord<strong>in</strong>gly. Cont<strong>in</strong>u<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>vestments towards 2030 will most likely double this amount <strong>in</strong><br />

2030. Note that the <strong>benefits</strong> to public f<strong>in</strong>ances are a subset <strong>of</strong> the overall <strong>benefits</strong> to society.<br />
