I would like to thank Christy Blair, Grace Cornett,
Lola Gross, Bridget Harr and all of the Ladies Sodality for their
efforts at this past Sunday’s family BBQ. Even though the
weather was hot, the number of parishioners who attended this
event was a pleasant surprise. Many who attended commented
to me that our parish needs to do something like this more often.
It was a simple event that provided families with grilled
food, fun and games, great music, and an opportunity to socialize
with fellow parishioners. Because of the heat, the Sodality
provided the children with a slip-n-slide down a small hill behind
the rectory. The children of all ages, including our high
school students and some parents, were playing on this slip-nslide
for hours. This event was suppose to end at 2:00pm; however,
it was 4:30pm when I noticed that many families were
still hanging out behind the rectory watching the children slide
down the hill. Overall, the Ladies Sodality made over $1,000
with this event. Way to go Ladies!
Please pray for good weather for our upcoming Parish
Picnic. It is hard to believe that the Parish Picnic is three weeks
away. As I mentioned before, because of the financial struggles
that families are going through, the Sunday collections from
last fiscal year were down from the previous year, which makes
the proceeds collected from this year’s Picnic & Fall Festival
events all the more important for our parish. The parishioners
on the Picnic Committee are working hard to make this year’s
Picnic a very special event. I would like to thank Bonnie Roettger,
Diane Mee, Harry Hawkins, Ted Eggering, Maggie Wilson,
and Christina Cyr for all their efforts working on the Picnic
Committee. Through God’s help and the work and dedication
of all parishioners, I am confident that this year’s Parish Picnic
will once again be a great success. God bless you,
Stewardship Awareness
“There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish; but what
good are these for so many?” John 6:9
The miracle of the Loaves and Fishes is the only one of Our Lord’s
miracles which is recorded six times in the Gospel. It carries two important
messages. First, no matter how little we have, we always have
enough to share. Second, Christ can take our humble gifts and do
great things with them if we are just willing to let Him.
