My Dear Parishioners,
Usually, we talk about the second
part of the gospel. It’s very comforting,
promising rest to those who labor and a light
burden for those who take Jesus’ yoke, that
is, are willing to be led by Jesus. But let’s
look at the first half of the passage. It almost
sounds like a riddle with mysterious
phrases. So what is Jesus saying?
First he talks about the Father hiding
things “from the wise and the learned.”
Some people think they know everything.
They look down at people who have faith in
Jesus as if they were simpletons. They usually
say that faith is a way of hiding from reality;
that only scientifically proven things
are real. While people who think this way
may be kind and generous, they are missing
the deeper meaning of life. Jesus says that
those hidden meanings are revealed to the
“little ones,” those with a child-like ability to
believe without proof, just because God tells
them. These are the ones he talks about in
the Beatitudes: “Blessed are the poor in
spirit...blessed are the meek.” (Mt 5:3, 5)
If you want the kind of faith Jesus is
talking about, you have to be open to it.
You have to be willing to see the world
through the eyes of faith. Do you expect to
see Jesus in the people you will talk to today?
Do you listen to the scripture readings
for how they can apply to you? Are you willing
to accept the frustrations of life, or the
mistakes you make, as opportunities to experience
God’s love and/or forgiveness?
The second saying is about knowing
the Father through the Son. We could know
little or nothing about God by ourselves. But
the love God has for us can only be known if
he reveals it. The Father and Son are one
God; they never act separately or hide anything
from each other. But we may be hiding
from God. If we have sinned and are
afraid to confess it to God, we are missing a
chance to experience God’s love when he
forgives us. Remember, Jesus did the hard
part by dying for our sins.

Lady of Perpetual Help at the Cathedral. It begins
at 7:00pm with Exposition of the Blessed

World Apostolate of Fatima
Our next WAF meeting will take place in
July. We are planning visits to parishes
around the diocese, and are preparing to
launch a new Prayer Cell campaign in the
coming weeks. This is personal prayer, according
to the wishes of Our Lady of Fatima,
that can take place in your home. Consider
whether you might be able to lead or join a
Prayer Cell this year. The World Apostolate
of Fatima Fargo Division will be sponsoring
an hour of Adoration as part of our Prayer Cell program.
Please join us on Mondays from 9-10am at St Mary’s Cathedral,
Fargo. This Holy Hour will include a Rosary, Vocal Prayer,
and Meditations. Everyone is welcome!! Mary needs praying
families as part of her prayer crusade to bring peace to the
world. Please join this army of prayer. For more

The Red River Women’s Mill
performs abortions every
Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.
We should have people there to
pray those days from 7am—7pm.
St. Mary’s goes to the abortuary every Wednesday at
10:00am to pray the rosary. Everyone is encouraged to
join us! Anyone that would like to sign up for 1 hour a

Visitation Chapel NOW OPEN!
The Visitation Chapel has been
established in the Gibb Office Building,
502 1st Ave N, Fargo, as a sacred space
dedicated to prayer for an end to abortion.

Baptism of Infants
Parents requesting Baptism should be registered members of the Cathedral. Baptisms are the
2nd & 4th Saturdays of the month following the 5:00pm Vigil Mass. (6:30pm)
Preparatory Baptism classes are held the 1st Sunday of every month at 2:00pm in the
Conference Room at the Cathedral Office. Registration is required.
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
For persons interested in becoming Catholic or for those who want to learn more about our faith.
Anointing of the Sick
Parishioners facing surgery or struggling with serious illness
may request this Sacrament.
Vocations to Christian Marriage
Couples planning to marry at the Cathedral must contact one
