for the disability retirement<br />
benefit?<br />
PSERS determines approval or denial<br />
of the disability retirement benefi t with<br />
recommendation from PSERS medical<br />
examiners.<br />
How is my date of disability<br />
retirement determined?<br />
The benefi t effective date of a disability<br />
retirement is the day after your last day<br />
of paid service or paid leave, whichever<br />
is later. You may not select your own<br />
disability retirement effective date.<br />
What if my request for a<br />
disability retirement is denied<br />
by PSERS?<br />
If your request is denied by PSERS, you<br />
may appeal the denial and request an<br />
