of a comprehensive range of medium voltage
accessories.
Accessories play a vital role in a power system.
Prysmian has gained expertise in the design,
manufacture and testing of products across all
voltages during many years of partnership
with customers.
Prysmian offers a comprehensive range of accessories
for glanding, jointing, connecting and terminating.
The range includes joints (also transition,
trifurcating and branch joints), terminations
(both for indoor and outdoor use), connectors,
separable connectors, glands, cleats and fixings,
link boxes, tooling, fused equipment units and resins.
Prysmian provides also engineering services capable
of fulfilling any power system specifications or
requirements and of delivering customised solutions.

• Jointing polymeric insulated cables of different specifications.
• Conductor sizes equal or unequal.
• May be directly buried.
• Jointing cables laid underground, in tunnels on horizontal racks, or aerial.
• Transition joint between extruded and paper insulated cables.

• Single core polymeric insulation. • Insulation voltage up to 36 kV (U m
).
• Copper or aluminum conductor. • Conductor sizes: 50 to 630 mm 2 .
• Tape, wire or polylam metallic screen.
• Non-armoured or Airbag TM armoured.
• Semi-conducting screen either extruded or taped.
Standards
Generally meets the requirements of IEC 60502-4; ENEL; CENELEC HD 629-1-2.
Quality Assurance
The Company has been assessed by third parties and found in the conformity with the requirements
of the standard ISO 9001 - EN 29001.
Packing
Supplied as a kit for one single core joint containing all the necessary components.

Installation features
• 100% electrically tested in the factory.
• “ALL-IN-ONE” COMPACT DESIGN: all components are factory expanded onto a support, including
the outer sheath for sealing the joint.
• No special skills or long experience required - easy assembling.
• No need for special tools or heating.

• Immediate energizing after completion of the joint.

1. Select in the table below, the kit model corresponding to the insulation voltage Um (up to 24 kV and 36 kV),
the diameter over insulation and over outer sheath:

2. Specify insulation voltage U m in kV: up to 24 or 36.
3. Select the screen continuity device according to the type of metallic screen of cable:
T1 for polylam screen - T2 for tape screen - T3 for wire screen.

ECOSPEED TM : Assembly procedures
1. Remove the outer sheath.
5. Apply the high – permettivity tape.
2. Cut the wires of the screen;
6. Apply the sealing mastic.
let them stick out of the outer sheath cutting.

7. Place the joint body onto the prepared cables
and centre them.
3. Remove the semiconductor and the insulation
using appropriate tools.
4. Joint the conductors using crimping
or shear bolt connectors.
8. Remove two spiral supports.
