<strong>AST</strong> First <strong>Trust</strong> Capital Appreciation Target Portfolio<br />

Robert F. Carey, Roger F. Testin, Jon C. Erickson, David G. McGarel, Todd Larson (fixed income portfolios of <strong>AST</strong> First <strong>Trust</strong> Balanced<br />

Target Portfolio and <strong>AST</strong> First <strong>Trust</strong> Capital Appreciation Target Portfolio only) and Daniel J. Lindquist comprise the Investment<br />

Committee of First <strong>Trust</strong> that is responsible for the day-to-day management of each Portfolio.<br />

Mr. Lindquist rejoined First <strong>Trust</strong> as Vice President in April 2004 and has been a Senior Vice President of First <strong>Trust</strong> and FTP since<br />

September 2005. Mr. Lindquist is Chairman of the Investment Committee and presides over Investment Committee meetings.<br />

Mr. Carey has been with First <strong>Trust</strong> since 1991 and is the Chief Investment Officer and a Senior Vice President of First <strong>Trust</strong> and a<br />

Senior Vice President of FTP. As First <strong>Trust</strong>’s Chief Investment Officer, Mr. Carey consults with the Investment Committee on market<br />

conditions and First <strong>Trust</strong>’s general investment philosophy.<br />

Mr. Erickson has been with First <strong>Trust</strong> since 1994 and is a Senior Vice President of First <strong>Trust</strong> and FTP. As the head of First <strong>Trust</strong>’s Equity<br />

Research Group, Mr. Erickson is responsible for determining the securities to be purchased and sold by funds that do not utilize<br />

quantitative investment strategies.<br />

Mr. McGarel has been with First <strong>Trust</strong> since 1997 and is a Senior Vice President of First <strong>Trust</strong> and FTP. As the head of First <strong>Trust</strong>’s<br />

Strategy Research Group, Mr. McGarel is responsible for developing and implementing quantitative investment strategies for those<br />

funds that have investment policies that require them to follow such strategies.<br />

Mr. Testin has been with First <strong>Trust</strong> since August 2001 and is a Senior Vice President of First <strong>Trust</strong> and FTP. As the head of First <strong>Trust</strong>’s<br />

Portfolio Management Group, Mr. Testin is responsible for executing the instructions of the Strategy Research Group and Equity<br />

Research Group in the fund’s portfolio.<br />

Mr. Larson joined First <strong>Trust</strong> in December 2007 and is a Vice President and Fixed Income Portfolio Manager of First <strong>Trust</strong>. Mr. Larson’s<br />

background includes 20 years of experience as an investment professional, including as a portfolio manager with ABN AMRO <strong>Asset</strong><br />

Management, Horizon Cash Management, and Van Kampen American Capital. Mr. Larson is responsible for managing each of the<br />

<strong>AST</strong> First <strong>Trust</strong> Balanced Target and <strong>AST</strong> First <strong>Trust</strong> Capital Appreciation Target Portfolios fixed-income portions.<br />

<strong>AST</strong> Global Real Estate Portfolio<br />

The Portfolio is managed by a team of portfolio managers from PREI. The members of the team are Marc Halle, Richard J. Romano,<br />

Joanna Mulford, and Gek Lang Lee.<br />

Mr. Halle is Senior Portfolio Manager for the Portfolio. Each Portfolio Manager has a primary responsibility for choosing securities in<br />

their respective region or sector as follows: Mr. Romano - United States, Ms. Mulford – private real estate-related securities, and Ms.<br />

Lee - Asia.<br />

Marc Halle is a Managing Director for PREI, where he is responsible for certain U.S. Merchant Banking activities and oversees PREI’s<br />

public real estate securities investments in the U.S., Europe and Asia. Mr. Halle is also a portfolio manager for the PRECO series of<br />

real estate private equity funds and is the senior portfolio manager for global real estate securities funds. Mr. Halle joined <strong>Prudential</strong><br />

in 1999 from Alpine Management Research, LLC where he was the Chief Operating Officer and Portfolio Manager of the Alpine<br />

Realty Income Growth Fund. Prior to forming Alpine, Mr. Halle was the senior real estate analyst and associate portfolio manager<br />

with Evergreen <strong>Asset</strong> Management, Inc., where he was jointly responsible for research, investment analysis and portfolio<br />

recommendations for real estate securities. Previously, Mr. Halle was Senior Vice President of W M Properties, Inc, a national real<br />

estate investment firm that held interests in office, multifamily and retail properties, where he was responsible for acquisitions and<br />

finance as well as for supervising property operations and development.<br />

Richard J. Romano is a Principal for PREI, responsible for management of PREI’s U.S. public securities investments. Mr. Romano<br />

joined <strong>Prudential</strong> in 1998 from Rockefeller Co., an investment management firm for the Rockefeller family and other high net worth<br />

clients, where he was an equity analyst covering real estate and leisure stocks globally in addition to covering domestic equity<br />

securities. Prior to joining Rockefeller Co., Mr. Romano was a senior investment analyst at the <strong>Prudential</strong> Realty Group.<br />

Joanna Mulford is a Principal and Portfolio Manager of PREI, with portfolio management responsibility (since 2004) for a private REIT,<br />

a co-investment real estate program with an off-shore investor, and various commercial real estate properties. She joined PREI in<br />

1997 from <strong>Prudential</strong>’s Private Equity Group, where she was responsible for enterprise-wide reporting on domestic and global<br />
