Cycling: The Yoga Rx for Cyclists<br />

Yoga <strong>of</strong>fers cyclists the perfect remedy for the discomforts<br />

brought on by time in the saddle. Its powerful blend <strong>of</strong> focus,<br />

flexibility and strength can be “just what the doctor ordered”<br />

to increase joint range <strong>of</strong> motion and reduce fatigue on and<br />

<strong>of</strong>f the bike. Regardless <strong>of</strong> your level <strong>of</strong> yoga experience, as a<br />

cycling instructor you will take away a three-pronged “yoga<br />

prescription” for each <strong>of</strong> the five most common cycling aches<br />

and pains along with detailed direction on how to teach these<br />

poses in the most effective way. This workshop includes a<br />

complete ride and yoga experience with detailed notes.<br />

presentation, the physiology <strong>of</strong> aging and anti-aging strategies<br />

(drugs, antioxidants, exercise, caloric-restriction, etc.) to slow<br />

down aging and extend lifespan will be discussed. Join Len<br />

Over the past two decades there has been a significant demographic<br />

shift coupled with an increased life expectancy among the<br />

aging population. Consequently, health care pr<strong>of</strong>essionals including<br />

personal trainers are faced more and more with the unique<br />

challenges related specifically to this demographic. In this session,<br />

Physical Therapist Terry Kane will discuss the pathophysiology and<br />

latest research in spinal conditions such as spinal stenosis, osteoporosis<br />

and others as well as exercise strategies and protocols to<br />

optimize spinal mobility and function in this client population.<br />
