1850-53 Half-Lengths Thomas Ham Printing Original State of the Dies 2d lilac-mauve SG 2 [vi],<br />

margins just touching - at upper-left - to large with a fragment of the adjoining unit at the base, tied to<br />

small piece by Barred Oval '12' (rated RRR) of Maiden's Punt, Cat £800. A remarkably late usage of<br />

this stamp, and the only recorded example with a Barred Oval cancellation. Ex Diffen.{Page 94.1}<br />

286 W B - Thomas Ham Printing Fourth State of the Die (Vertical Drapes) 2d cinnamon SG 17, margins just<br />

touched (at top) to large, ironed-out crease at lower-right that in no way affects the very fine<br />

appearance, unused, Cat £1000. RPSofV Certificate (2007). [At least as attractive as the example Ex<br />

Harvey, Perry and Barelli that sold at auction for $1840 in 2006. It also appears at least the equal of<br />

any of Gary Diffen's 3 examples that sold for £2232, £1057 & £705 respectively at auction last year:<br />

the Diffen catalogue stated "...no fine unused examples are known & no multiples have been recorded.<br />

These are among the finest examples known"] {Page 94.2}<br />

287 * A 1857 Emblems Unwatermarked Good Quality Medium Wove Paper 2d pale lilac SG 45, margins close<br />

to enormous with a significant part of the adjoining unit at right, tiny natural paper-flaw in the margin in<br />

no way detracts from the very fine appearance, large-part o.g., Cat £275. Ex Pack.{Page 94.3}<br />

variety, large-part o.g. with the upper units being lightly mounted and the lower units being unmounted,<br />

Kellow states at p191 "...there would appear to be only one block of 4 recorded", from all printings.<br />
