1856-59 'REGISTERED' Imperforate (6d) orange-red & blue reprinted on "thin, tough paper" [Basset<br />

Hull's term] overprinted 'SPECIMEN', margins close to huge, a little soiled. [Basset Hull at page 384<br />

details the early specimen stamps, giving the dates of "issue" and numbers produced. The Registered<br />

stamp seems to have been something of an aberration. Of it he states only "I have found no entry as to<br />

its printing"]{Page 57.1}<br />

Ex Frankenstein. Believed to be the only recorded pair in private hands: there is a pair in the Royal<br />
