Entertainment Tax: 1942 Adapted Design with Lined Background bicoloured die proofs comprising 6d
green & stone, 5/- red & grey-green, 15/- black & blue and £1 ultramarine & chocolate (echoes of the
original £1 Kangaroo!) on separate pieces of thin glazed paper (57x62mm), neat endorsements at
lower-left "No 2", "No 12", "No 22" or "No 32" respectively, plus initials & the date "14/4/42". Although it
was two years later that the uniform Commonwealth tax stamps were introduced, these proofs, with no
State name, suggest that moves for a national approach were afoot during the War. These are the only
such proofs known to us and would be a major enhancement to any collection.{Page 50.2} (4)
