"The Sydney Harbour Bridge"<br />

[We are delighted to have been instructed to offer the "Social <strong>Philately</strong>" exhibit formed by Maurice Williams of Sydney, a former<br />

Chairman of Australia Post. This five-frames display was awarded a Large Gold Medal at the National Exhibition in Sydney in June<br />

2007, which coincided with the 75th Anniversary of the Opening of the Bridge on 19th March 1932. This is a beautifully presented<br />

exhibit combining stamps, postcards, photographs and ephemeral items to tell the story of the construction and impact of Sydney's<br />

iconic bridge. Many lots are offered on the exhibition pages]<br />

The balance of the collection on Maurice Williams' exhibit pages including a fine mint set, 2d imprint<br />

block signed "John Ash", 3d Plates 1 to 4 blocks of 4, 5/- CTO, overprinted 'OS' corner blocks of 4 &<br />

imprint blocks of 4, soiled cover with 'SYDNEY HARBOUR BRIDGE/ -1- ' reserve cds, toll tickets (5<br />

different) plus train (3) & train/tram (2) tickets, several PPCs, commercial covers, 2d tied to cover by<br />

huge "TSS Nieuw Holland" Trade & Exhibition Ship cachet, 3d on Avis de Reception card, foil<br />

cinderellas, poetic booklet "I dips me lid to the Sydney Harbour Bridge" by CJ Dennis, 1935 WASP<br />

Airlines label block of 6 (**) & a single label on a flight cover, 1940 PPC with Bridge cds & 'HARBOUR<br />

BRIDGE/PYLON EXHIBIT' cachet, etc. Generally very fine.<br />

Ten Bridge-related publications including "The Bridge Book" by Cazneaux (1930, marvellous<br />

photographs as art); "...Official Souvenir & Programme", 188pp softbound with extensive text &<br />

numerous black & white photos, cover faults & minor water-damage; "The Official Opening..." 32pp,<br />

minor water-damage; "Building the Sydney Harbour Bridge: the Photography of Henri Mallard" (1976);<br />
