The curly braces enclose the text you w<strong>an</strong>t in teletype. You have to be careful with \type<br />

because the line breaking mech<strong>an</strong>ism does not work <strong>an</strong>ymore.<br />

32 Composite characters<br />

32.1 Introduction<br />

In chapter 3 you have already seen that you have to type more th<strong>an</strong> one token to obtain<br />

special characters like # $ % & { <strong>an</strong>d }. Accented characters or foreign symbols have to<br />

be composed to produce the right typesetted character.<br />

It is not within the scope of this m<strong>an</strong>ual to go into accented characters in math mode.<br />
