Special Feature 專 題 介 紹 The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) and The Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) (Hong Kong Division) Joint Structural Division Special Award 2008 () 「 卓 越 結 構 大 獎 2008」 Introduction 引 言 This article is written to draw attention to advances taking place in the Hong Kong construction industry, and the continued positive and close symbiotic relationship that exists between the faculty and alumni. The focus is on the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) Joint Structural Division (JSD) awards for outstanding structures of 2008, announced on the 30th April. Firstly, influences which have encouraged developmental change in the construction industry are touched upon, followed by brief descriptions of features which have made the JSD award winning structures special. The latter is made possible by the kind co-operation of our participating alumni, Ir Mr Wallace W.Y. Cham from The Hong Kong Science Park Corporation and Ir Mr Wilson Y.S. Cheung of Siu Yin Wai and Associates Ltd and Professor S.L. Chan from the Department of Civil and Structural Engineering (CSE). 2008430 ()2008 -- 01
