Quality Assurance<br />

The systematic monitoring and evaluation of the various aspects of teacher observation to maximize the<br />

probability that minimum standards of quality are attained by the evaluator.<br />

Race to the Top (RTTT)<br />

A federal grant program that will reward states for raising student achievement and promoting reform.<br />

Money will be granted to districts that participate over a four‐year span and can only be used within the<br />

scope of the federal guidelines.<br />

S<br />

<strong>School</strong> Improvement Plan (SIP)<br />

A formal plan delineating improvement strategies based upon a school’s identified student subgroup needs.<br />

The plan is approved by the school board, submitted to the state department of education, and is public<br />

record.<br />

Self‐<strong>Evaluation</strong><br />

A part of the teacher evaluation where the teacher reflects individually on his/her practices as delineated in<br />

the rubric descriptions and then rates him or herself accordingly for each essential performance criteria.<br />

The points earned from this self‐evaluation make up 1.7% of a teacher’s Overall Annual Performance<br />

<strong>Evaluation</strong> Rating.<br />

Situational Context<br />

The conditions that exist in the teaching environment that are unique to the individual teacher’s assigned<br />

students. (See Student Demographic Impact Factors)<br />

Student Demographic Impact Factors<br />

Adequate yearly progress variables identified as significant factors impacting a teacher’s situational context.<br />

These factors are unique to each teacher. These factors include the percentage of students on free or<br />

reduced lunch, the percentage of students with exceptionalities, and the percentage of students whose<br />

primary language is other than English.<br />

Student Learning Gain (SLG)<br />

A student’s academic improvement tracked from year to year in accordance with academic standards.<br />

Student Performance Data Source<br />

FCAT and other state assessment data credited to teachers based on the students the teacher is teaching;<br />

Student Learning Goal data from teacher‐made, administered, scored, and reported pre‐ and postassessments<br />

credited to teachers based on the students the teacher is teaching.<br />

Summative <strong>Evaluation</strong><br />

The end of the evaluation cycle, which includes an administrator/teacher conference related to the<br />

teacher's Overall Annual Performance <strong>Evaluation</strong> Rating.<br />
