SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN
Parental Involvement
Goal:
Parental/Family Involvement Programs
Needs Assessment: 75% of parents will attend meetings and conferences during the 2008-2009 school year.
Objective: By May 2009, 75% of parents will participate in decisions regarding their children’s educational documentation
as evidenced by attendance at parent trainings, meetings or conferences.
Strategies:
A school parental involvement policy will be developed by all stakeholders, at Palmetto Elementary School
which will include a school family compact that will be distributed to parents with the back to school
information packet. (signed compacts returned will be kept on file at the school)
Palmetto Elementary School parents, community members and business partners will be involved in the
development and evaluation of the School Improvement Plan.
Palmetto Elementary School parents will be involved in decisions about how Title I funds are to be allocated
and documentation retained to support this requirement.
An annual public meeting will be held in the Lunchroom (AM & PM) to inform all stakeholders included staff,
parents, business partners, and community members of the Palmetto’s participation in the Title I school wide
program. Child care will be provided.
Individual student’s assessment results, including an interpretation of those results will be provided to all
parents.
A plan will be developed to assist and to support the transition of pre-school students/families from early
childhood programs to kindergarten.
FCAT Workshops will be scheduled each month in the areas of Reading, Writing, and Mathematics.
Parents will have the opportunity to access the Media Center and Computer Lab twice a month to assist their
children.
We include parents in the review and the writing of the parental involvement plan.
Evaluation:
The annual Title I survey will be conducted toward the end of the school year.
