Item 9 9 Performance Exception Report Annex 2 Stroke patients who spend at least 90% of their time in Hospital on a Stroke Unit based on Days Performance summary Performance from May was 66.7%, an improvement on the April position but still below the national standard of 80%. Update on previous actions Burrator has been ring-fenced throughout May to be used only for neurosciences. The intention is that this will lead to an increase in the bed availability for acute stroke patients to be admitted directly from the emergency department. The impact of this can be seen in the reduction in the number of patients who were identified as a stroke within the ED but were not directly admitted to the stroke unit due to bed availability from a volume of 10 patients in April breaching for this reason to 3 patients in May (2 patients in June so far) Further planned action Action Lead Deadline Continuous review patients who were not assessed in the emergency as query stroke but who subsequently were diagnosed with a stroke later in their journey Establishment of clear patient flows to ensure any patients admitted to Burrator who are not stroke patients can be moved in a timely manner.
