The action from the April Board was: Dr Mayor reminded Board members that the HSMR and the SHMI were only two performance measures: they should not be considered in isolation but as part of a broader suite of performance metrics. Professor Lewis queried whether the underlying data was reviewed by the Safety & Quality Committee. […] Dr Williams stated that the Committee did not review data below the level presented to the Board and relied on the Medical Director to give assurance on underlying data and to identify any areas requiring a more detailed analysis. Professor Lewis suggested that, under these circumstances, the Committee should review below the line. The Board requested Dr Mayor and Dr Williams, who would be chairing the Safety & Quality Committee from June, to review data presentation to ensure that the Board was sighted of the contributing, or underlying, issues. It was agreed that the Safety & Quality Committee would review the last three months’ data in depth. MD/MW Outstanding. Board to have visibility of outcome via Chair’s Report and meeting minutes.
