PTT talks expansion
plans in cambodia
Thailand’s state-owned energy firm PTT
Plc has said it will expand its oil retail
operations in Cambodia. PTT plans to
open more than 20 new petrol stations
in Cambodia during the next five years,
with up to six stations starting business
in 2012, Bin May Mailia, a Manager for
PTT in Cambodia, has said. “We want
to have the complete business chain in
Cambodia, both retail and oil production.”
Competition among oil retailers in
Cambodia is growing rapidly, a manager
at Kampuchea Tela Co Ltd said that the
Cambodian-owned company, which has
vietnam checks
gasoline quality
Vietnam’s quality watchdog has said that
it has started checking gasoline quality
on suspicion that poor-quality fuel was
related to recent vehicle fires. Tran Van
Vinh, Deputy Chief of the Directorate
for Standards, Metrology and Quality,
said his agency took samples from the
provinces and cities where the fires took
place, especially at gasoline stations
where the owners of burned vehicles
made purchases before the incidents. In
an interview Vinh said probably after 11
fuel traders in Ho Chi Minh City were
found selling low-performance gasoline
(A83) under the labels of high-performing
ones – A93 and A9, other traders mixed
some additives into their products to increase
performance. The additives were
probably related to the fires, he said.
SoN begins testing of petroleum products
Pertamina to build terminal in Riau Islands
Indonesian State oil and gas firm PT Pertamina
announced that it would set up a new fuel
terminal on Sambu island, Riau Islands, with
a total capacity of 300 000 kilolitres in a bid
to strengthen the national fuel stock. The
terminal, worth US $ 50 million, would consist
of storage and three docks for vessels with a
Mochamad Harun, reported. The construction
of the facilities is expected to be completed
in 2013 and is also expected to optimize the
explained that the mega stations would help
create employment opportunities for deserving
litre price and thus bring to an end disparity
in the pump price of petroleum products.
