Hazards from Accessories The “Accesories” chapter of this manual contains some information about certain optional accessories that may be on your trailer. Read and follow all of these instructions before operating the accessories. The major hazards from some of these accessories are: 1.B.16.a. Drop-down Feed Doors • Some trailers are equipped with drop-down feed doors and windows that are useful to provide additional ventilation to horses. These drop-down doors are characterized as having a horizontal hinge along their bottom edge and opening toward the trailer exterior. • During deliberate lowering/opening of these drop-down doors, there is risk of hitting oneself on the head or forearm, or perhaps pinching. In some cases, the catch that holds the door closed is located high enough that a user must stand on a step stool or ladder to reach. When on a step stool, a user has an additional risk of losing balance or otherwise falling. 17
