11.4.1 DB2 Back End<br />

DB2 provides a robust, scalable, industry-tested basis for storage of the directory<br />

data. It includes support of Binary Large Objects (BLOBs) that facilitates use of<br />

the directory as an efficient object store. The Open DataBase Connectivity<br />

(ODBC) interface is used to connect DB2 as the directory back end. Using ODBC<br />

as the interface allows for the future inclusion of other relational databases as<br />

back-ends.<br />
