and multiple-rooted tree views and trees of an arbitrary number of levels.<br />

6.2.6 Message Boxes<br />

Where it is necessary to alert the user to various conditions, a message box is<br />

used for the following purposes:<br />

• Informational messages<br />

• Warning messages<br />

• Critical conditions<br />

• Confirmation prompts<br />

6.2.7 User Assistance<br />

User assistance includes on-line information designed to aid users in performing<br />

unfamiliar tasks. Web-Based System Manager user assistance includes: on-line<br />

books, help, Task<strong>Guide</strong>s, hover help, and context help. These are described<br />

below.<br />

6.2.7.1 Help<br />

General help for each Web-Based System Manager application is provided<br />

through a container-level help for that application. The general help also contains<br />

an overview section common to all Web-Based System Manager applications.<br />

All help text is written in HTML and is accessed through the Web browser on the<br />

client system.<br />

6.2.7.2 Container Help Menu Contents<br />

Container help menu choices are provided for the following:<br />

• Contents (contents of extended or reference help)<br />

• What's this? (places the application in context-sensitive help mode)<br />

• Search for help on topic (Web page for accessing the help search engine)<br />

• How to use Help<br />

• About Web-Based System Manager (product information)<br />

6.2.7.3 Context Sensitive Helps<br />

Context-sensitive help is provided in a child window that pops up above the user<br />

interface element for which help is requested. It is available when the user:<br />

• Selects What’s this? from the application help menu. This enters<br />

context-sensitive help mode.<br />

• Clicks on a tool bar icon containing a question mark to get help on the<br />

contents of a window.<br />

• Presses the help button on a dialog.<br />

Context-sensitive help is available for:<br />

• Fields with a dialog<br />

• Objects in a view area<br />
