Demounted Rims<br />

To check the torque on demountable rims, follow the crisscross<br />

sequence shown below. See Table 7, “Wheel Cap Nut<br />

Torque,” Page 210 for proper torque specifications.<br />

Preventive Maintenance<br />

WARNING! Improperly mounting and demounting<br />

tire and rim assemblies is dangerous. Failure<br />

to observe proper precautions could cause the<br />

tire-rim assembly to burst explosively, causing<br />

serious injury or death. See the wheel manufacturer's<br />

literature for the proper way to mount and<br />

demount your tires and rims. Follow their precautions<br />

exactly.<br />

Comparing Hub Piloted and Ball Seat Parts<br />

WARNING! Do not mismatch wheel components.<br />

Equipment that does not exactly match original<br />

specifications or that is mismatched could<br />

cause the wheels to break and separate from the<br />

vehicle causing death or personal injury. Each<br />

mounting system is engineered for use only with<br />

its correct mating part. Be sure properly<br />

matched components are used for each type of<br />

mounting.<br />

The following comparison (Table 8, ”Comparing Hubpiloted<br />

and Ball-seat Wheels”), shows the difference<br />

between parts used in hub pilot mount and ball seat mount<br />

applications.<br />
