HOOD HOLD DOWNS AND TILT
Put one hand on the hood handle (just above the Peterbilt
emblem), one foot on the bumper, and one foot on the
ground. Tilt the hood forward until you hear it “lock”.
ENGINE ACCESS
WARNING! Always make sure the lock is
engaged to keep your hood open while working
in the engine compartment. Failure to do
so may allow the hood to fall unexpectedly
resulting in death or personal injury.
To close the hood, you must first release the hood safety
lock.
WARNING! Before closing the hood, be sure
the area is clear—no people or objects are in
the way. Failure to do so may result in death or
personal injury
CAUTION: To avoid hood damage when closing
the hood, firmly pull the cable to release
the hold-open lock.
Locate the hood lock release cable as shown in the illustration
below. The cable is located on the Drivers side
bumper, visable when the hood is in the open position.
