Transmission Warmup<br />

CAUTION: The use of a winterfront can result<br />

in excessive engine coolant, oil, and charge air<br />

(intake) temperatures, which can lead to overheating<br />

and possible engine damage. If you<br />

mustuseawinterfront<br />

• Refer to the “Engine Operation and Maintenance<br />

<strong>Manual</strong>” for operating restrictions and<br />

recommendations.<br />

• Keep the engine exhaust system and the vehicle’s<br />

cab ventilation system properly maintained.<br />

It is recommended that the vehicle’s<br />

exhaust system and cab be inspected<br />

– By a competent technician every 15,000<br />

miles<br />

– Whenever a change is noticed in the sound<br />

of the exhaust system<br />

– Whenever the exhaust system, underbody,<br />

or cab is damaged<br />

NOTE:<br />

• Do not stay in the vehicle with the engine running<br />

or idling for more than 10 minutes with the<br />

PART 7: STARTING & OPERATING THE VEHICLE<br />

vehicle’s Heater and A/C ventilation system in<br />

RECIRC or at LOW FAN SPEED. Even with the<br />

ventilation system On, running the engine while<br />

parked or stopped for prolonged periods of time<br />

is not recommended.<br />

• If other vehicles are parked next to you idling,<br />

move your vehicle or do not stay in your vehicle<br />

for prolonged periods of time.<br />

Transmission Warmup<br />

WARNING! Do not operate this vehicle if you notice<br />

a gradual or sudden increase in cable shift<br />

effort or a decrease in the usable travel. Take<br />

the vehicle to the nearest authorized <strong>Peterbilt</strong><br />

dealer for repair. Failure to correct either of<br />

these conditions could result in serious injury<br />

or death.<br />

CAUTION: Cables are designed to be contaminant<br />

resistant, not contaminant proof. Protect<br />

cable from contaminants, chemicals, and physical<br />

damage which may damage the control cable.<br />
