PART 5: SEAT AND RESTRAINT SYSTEMS Passengers Anyone riding in your vehicle should wear a seat belt. The responsible operator sees to it that everyone in the vehicle rides safely - and that means with a seat belt. Some Other Safety Restraint Tips: • Don’t wear belts over rigid or breakable objects in or on your clothing. Such things might be eyeglasses, pens, keys, etc. These could cause injury in an accident. • Damaged belts in the cab must be replaced. Belts that have been stretched, cut, or worn out may not protect youinanaccident. • Avoid catching belts in the doors or seat hardware. They could be damaged. • Don’t modify or disassemble the seat belts in your vehicle. They won’t be available to keep you and your passengers safe. • Never bleach or dye seat belts; chemicals can weaken them. Do, however, keep them clean by following the Tether Belts care label on the belts. Let them dry completely before allowing them to retract. • If any seat belt is not working properly, see an authorized Peterbilt dealer for repair or replacement. Tether Belts Tether belts are installed on suspension seats. They help secure the seat to the floor to restrain it in case of a sudden stop or an accident. WARNING! Do not remove, modify, or replace the tether belt system with a different tether system.
