Shields and Skirts
Check shields and skirts for cracks at mounting and stress
points. Check fender shields for tire marks, worn spots,
or damage from objects thrown from tire treads. You can
repair cracked or damaged fiberglass fender shields with
fiberglass and resin.
If you find damage at a fastening point, you can gain additional
strength by installing a suitable reinforcing plate.
This plate should be drilled to accept a rivet and laminated
totheshieldwithfiberglass and resin.
Check cab skirts, sills, and brackets for overall condition
and repair them as necessary. Damaged rubber fender
shields or cab skirting cannot be repaired. You will need
to replace it.
Your authorized dealership can perform all of these checks
and repairs or replacements.
PART 8: MAINTENANCE AND SERVICE
Do all checks and maintenance chores listed in this manual
under Engine Air Intake System and Air Cleaner (See
Index).
Check the induction tubing, elbow connections, clamps,
brackets, and fasteners for deterioration, cracks, and security.
If you find an air leak anywhere between the air cleaner
and the engine, repair that leak immediately.
CAUTION: Air leaks cause excessive noise and
may result in serious damage to the engine. If
you do not repair them the engine damage won’t
be covered by your warranty. Repair all air leaks
as soon as you find them.
