5. Attach the remaining jumper cable FIRST to the negative
battery terminal (black “-” or “N”) of the good battery,
and then to the chassis or ground of the vehicle
being jump started.
6. Start the engine in the vehicle with the good battery.
Let it run a few minutes. Then start the engine in the
vehicle with the dead battery. If the engine fails to
start, do not continue to crank the starter but contact
the nearest Authorized Service Center.
WARNING! When disconnecting jumper cables,
make sure they do not get caught in any
moving parts in the engine compartment.
7. Reverse the above sequence exactly when removing
the jumper cables. Take care that your first step is to
remove the cable from the chassis or ground of the
vehicle that was jump-started.
Removing and Installing Batteries
cover (step) before entering the cab. Without
Whenever you have to install a battery or remove one, follow
these guidelines for the safety of yourself and the battery.
• Ensure all switches on the vehicle are turned Off.
• Disconnect the ground cable first when removing a
battery.
• Connect the ground cable last when installing a battery.
