EMS providers respond to a call of a Heartmate XVE patient
in distress. Patient’s chief complaint is dizziness. Upon
arrival, EMS providers attach an ECG monitor and quickly
reveal lth the patient ti is in v-tach
tach. The paramedics attempt t to
defibrillate the patient and in doing so short circuit the system
controller. The pump stops and hand-pumping is now
necessary to maintain support.
Disconnect system monitor before cardioversion;
