Knowing that Sushil Haripal’s financial resources are rather good, Sananda expected that Sushil had
bribed Chakradhar Dash to intimidate Arakhit. For this Sananda asked the ASI about the amount of the
bribe. This question was followed by an attack of Chankradhar Dash who beat Sananda thrice (to one
of his legs, to his shoulder and his left hand) and than kicked him, so that he fell to the ground.
Driven by big fear Sananda ran away, while the ASI kept on threatening Arakhit, announcing that any
steps taken against Sushil by Arakhit would cause detention.

The victim Ashok Dash (28) was a resident of Jhar Tarabha. He was unemployed.
At 11 am on 18 March 2008 Ashok was playing “satta play” with three other persons near by the saloon
of Hat Chhak. A police van reached the place and the police officers beat Ashok and the three other
persons, because they disapproved of the game. The police officers beat Ashok twice before they went
away.

Case details:
The victim Sri Narayan Manahira (24) was a member of the Scheduled Caste community. He
was a business man of Fulmuthi, who sold vegestables.
On 20 March 2008 at 12.30 PM Police Constable (PC) Sri Durbadal Majhi stopped him, when he was
on his way returning from Binika. The PC asked him why he had had quarrelled with Pramod Naik and
he beat him up. He slapped and kicked him, so that he fell down on the ground.
Afterwards the PC threatened Narayan to strip off all his skin, if he would attempt to quarrel with Pramod
Naik again. At last the PC went away on his bike.
