for the workers. The victim went to Madavati and was returning with the same. On the way he was<br />

stopped by three police officials who took him to the Out Post and inquired how long he was carrying out<br />

this business. Though Jhasaketan tried explaining to them, they paid no heed, and beat him up. Finally<br />

the victim was released after the intervention of his contractor.<br />

Case Details:<br />

Victim Rabindra Mahakud is a resident of Jtesingha village. He runs a broiler shop with the income of<br />

which he sustains his family. On 18 th January 2008 the victim went to Biramaharajpur for purchasing<br />

broiler from Saroj. There he drank heavily and on his way back home he had strife with Ganesh Mishra<br />

and broke his head using a brick. Out of fear he ran back home. The next day Rabindra went to<br />

Biramaharajpur and while taking tea in a shop he was arrested by the police of Biramaharajpur Police<br />

Station. At the station the victim was beaten by the ASI and threatened to be produced before the Court.<br />

Finally Rabindra was released after the intervention of Ganesh himself.<br />

Victim Brajesh Taria is a +3 Art Student residing in Keutapada village. On 29 th February 2008 the victim<br />

was standing along with his friends near Binika Bus Stand and chatting with them. The OIC of Binika<br />

Police Station, who passed that way in a vehicle stopped by them and inquired what they were doing<br />

there at night. Following this the official beat Brajesh with a lathi nearly four to five times. When his friends<br />

questioned the official they were returned with threats of detaining and commanded to disperse from the<br />

place.
