Victim Balaram Behera is a resident of Paridopatna village, and works as a truck driver. On 7 th January<br />
2008 he had parked the truck near a road and gone to pass urine. During that time, Police Constable<br />
Lalmohan Singh demanded bribe from the victim and threatened for parking the vehicle in a no-parking<br />
zone. When Balaram refused bribing him he was taken to Banamalipur Out-Post, assaulted and<br />
abused with filthy words.<br />

Case Details:<br />
Victim Kasinath Swain is a resident of Ersama, and cultivates prawn, with the income of which he<br />
manages his family. Duryodhana Mohanty of Patakura Police Station had borrowed money from the<br />
victim for the purpose of registering a land in the name of Kasinath. But Duryodhana failed to register the<br />
land owing to which a case was filed in Ersama Police Station under the order issued from Kujanaga<br />
court. The OIC of the station demanded money from the hands of the victim for investigating the case<br />
and also demanded money from the perpetrator also for compromising the case. Finally Duryodhana<br />
was arrested but released very soon. Kasinath protested against the activities of the police on 31 st<br />
December 2007 before the Thasildar Office. The OIC arrived in a short while along with his team and<br />
assaulted the victim. He was forcefully taken to the hospital beyond his desire.<br />
