During his detention, the police officers did not offer Rabindra any food, but his wife brought him food. After<br />

being physically and mentally abused by the SI for three days, Rabindra was forwarded to court on 12<br />

March 2008 at about 2:45 PM. He was later released on bail.<br />

The victim Duryodhan Nayak was working at Baleswar Mahadev temple. On 30 th June, 2008 he had<br />

heard that utensils of the temple were stolen. So he had informed the matter to villagers. The next day,<br />

the police had gone to inquire about the theft and they have taken the victim Duryodhan Nayak under<br />

suspicion.<br />

The police had beaten him brutally and had asked him to confess the crime. The victim Duryodhan<br />

Nayak had pleaded his innocence but the police had fastened his hands and legs and had beaten him<br />

brutally. The victim was detained at the out post for three days and then he was taken to Balianta Police<br />

Station. The police had taken his finger prints and have got his signature in a blank paper. Later with the<br />

help of a lawyer, the victim Duryodhan Nayak had come out.<br />

The victim Debendra Bariik was engaged in agriculture and he had two sons. He had criticized the<br />

work of the Village head. When the village head had come to know that the victim Debendra Barik had<br />

abused him, he had lodged a complaint him at the police station.<br />

Based on the complaint, the police had caught hold of the victim Debendra Barik and had tortured him.<br />

The police had detained him at the police station without food and they have not allowed his relatives to<br />

meet him. Then they have forwarded him to Court. The victim’s ear was severely injured due to police<br />

torture and he had spent about 3000 for getting bail.<br />
