On 8 June 2007 at around 10.00pm, while Jageshwar Rabi Das was lying on the terrace of his
purchasing liquor. When Jageshwar Rabi Das refused to give them money, they pounced on
him and started beating him severely. His 16 year-old daughter Lata Das rushed to save her
father and attempted to protect him from the perpetrators. She was also beaten up severely. One
of the assailants hit her head with a brick and injured her eye. Lata Das became unconscious.
The perpetrators continued battering Jageshwar. His loud cry drew the attention of the neighbors
and they recused him and his daughter.
