The police at Barrackpore PS did not allow the fact-finding team to see the GD Entry Book. One<br />

officer, Bhaskar Banerjee, provided the team with Unnatural Death case no. 20/17.8.06. The<br />

Police Case Hospital provided Barrackpore Post Mortem report No. 811. Mr. Umapada<br />

Chatterjee, SDO of Barrackpore, pleading ignorance, stated that no magisterial enquiry had<br />

been conducted on the body of Pappu.<br />

Khudiram Mondal, Second Officer at the Barrackpore PS, has stated that he was on leave on<br />

Case Details:<br />

Victim Ektar Seikh, age 42, had a bamboo trading business and lived in Madanpur, Murshidabad<br />

District.<br />

On 16 May 2007, the police of Doulatabad PS arrested Ektar Seikh in a criminal case u/s 363/<br />

366(a)/372/34 IPC (kidnapping and abduction for ransom), dated 15.05.07.<br />

On 17 May 2007, Ektar Seikh was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Baharampur,<br />

who sent him to Doulatabad PS, where he remained under police remand for five days.<br />

At the station, SIs Dulal Sarkar and Abdur Rahaman and ASIs Nitish Mondal and Asraf Ali beat<br />

Ektar Seikh.<br />

On 18 May 2007, the officers beat Ektar Seikh again.
