On 22 December 2001, Kalachand, while away on a pilgrimage, called Saikat and told him to<br />
spread a rumor that his Kalachand’s wife Sefali died in an accident. On 29 December 2001,<br />
Sefali was found dead from poisoning.<br />
On 1 July 2006, Kakoli obtained a document showing that Kalachand murdered Sefali. The<br />
forensic examination of Sefali stated that “endosulfan has been detected in the viscera of Sefali<br />
Chatterjee.”<br />
Kakoli lodged a written complaint, along with the supporting documents, at the Chitpur PS.<br />
On 25 July 2006, Kakoli sent a written complaint to the DCP. Meanwhile, she called several<br />
times at the PS. NO action was taken.<br />
On 11 October 2007, Kakoli sent complaints to the SHRC and the DCP. No action was taken.<br />

Case Details:<br />
Victim Manu Roy is a Class XI student.<br />
On 22 nd June 2005, Manu Roy was allegedly kidnapped and raped by some of her neighbors<br />
(namely, Madhusudan Mistri, Basudeb Roy, and Mangal Mistri) in an under-construction building<br />
inside the campus of a hotel named Jahannuma Palace in Madhya Pradesh.<br />
Afterwards, the miscreants raped her several times and burnt her with cigarettes.<br />
Finally, on 4 th October 2005 at night, Manu managed to escape.<br />
On 23rd June 2006 Manu Roy’s brother Bikash Roy lodged a complaint at the Ghutiari Sharif<br />
Police Out Post, but the police ignored his complaint and asked him to bring a passport-sized<br />
photograph of Manu Roy.<br />
