Case Details:
Victim Mahinuddin Sardar is 10 years old. Mahinuddin Sardar’s grandfather Kalamuddin
Sardar was in an ongoing dispute with his neighbour Salamat Sardar, and had been involved in
many police cases.
On 23 July 2007, some of Salamat Sardar’s followers beat Mahinuddin Sardar. He became
afraid and ran away.
At night, the followers tried to kidnap Mahinuddin Sardar, but he shouted and some others
arrived, so the men fled.
On 24 July 2007, Mahinuddin Sardar’s mother and grandmother went to Salamat Sardar’s
house to complain. However, Salamat Sardar behaved very badly and insulted both of the
women.
Mahinuddin Sardar’s mother and grandmother went to the Sankarpur Out Post to lodge a
General Diary Entry, but the police there did not even let them enter the Out Post.
On 25 July 2007, Salamat Sardar’s followers slapped and beat Mahinuddin Sardar, who fell
down into a drain.
Mahinuddin Sardar’s mother and grandmother rushed to the scene with some others in order to
rescue him. They went to the Sankarpur Out Post to lodge a complaint, but again the police
personnel drove them away.
On 26 July 2007, after the intervention of MASUM, Kalamuddin Sardar went to Baruipur PS with
Mahinuddin Sardar. There, the Inspector-in-Charge filed a General Diary Entry and suggested
that Mahinuddin Sardar visit a hospital and collect a medical report.
However, in spite of these efforts, no action has been taken.
