Case Details:<br />

Victim Saiful Mondal, aged 48, is a grocer residing in Charparaspur village, falling under the jurisdiction<br />

of Jalangi Police Station. The victim lost his land during the erosion of River Padma. So Saiful used to<br />

buy grocery items from a market, located 18 kilometers away from his village. He used to bring 50-60<br />

kilograms of rice, 20-25 kilograms of flour and other materials in order to sell and make a living. From<br />

2007 the BSF Officials didn’t allow Saiful to bring more than 2 kilograms of rice per week. The victim<br />

required 20 kilograms of rice per week for his family members alone. Thus he faced problems in his<br />

business. The officials had also beat up the victim when he was carrying 50 kilograms of rice for his<br />

business. They kicked and slapped the victim, causing him to bend. Saiful send complaints to the DM<br />

of Murshidabad, SP of Berhampore, SDO of Domkal, BDO of Jalangi, OIC of Jalangi Police Station and<br />

the Commander of BSF, Farajipara Out-Post; but to no avail.<br />

Case Details:<br />

Victim Sambhu Nath Sarkar, aged 54, is a Clerk at Nabodkhali K.M.C School, residing at Amudia,<br />

falling under the jurisdiction of Swarupnagar Police Station. On 27 th December 2007 the victim was<br />

returning home and passing through Amudia market. All of a sudden he heard all the shops lowering the<br />

shutters. Ram Kumar Tomar, Company Commander of BSF Jawans (Police) had arrived at the place<br />

and threatened the innocent shop keepers to close the shops. Sambhu, who was passing that way<br />

encountered a Jawan, who beat him up with a wooden baton. The victim fell down shouting in pain.<br />

Thereafter Sambhu attended a local doctor. He also lodged a general diary entry on 28 th December<br />

2007 at Swarupnagar Police Station. It came to light that the officer who had assaulted Sambhu was<br />

Satpal Singh, Constable of BSF.<br />
